The Ed Snell Memorial annual Run/Walk began as a friendly wager between two locals who raced from Fairplay to Alma in the winter of 1979. By 1981, the race was named for Edward Louis Snell who was born in Alma in 1904. He was an avid conservationist and naturalist who was active in mining, milling and metallurgy in the South Park area until his death in 1975. Family and friends have kept his giving spirit alive through this memorial fund.

This non-profit charitable memorial fund is to help improve the quality of life for others in the South Park area. This memorial fund is unique due to its ability to honor and protect the privacy of the individuals that we help. Past donations helped make the following possible: Liver transplant, uninsured medical assistance, medical bills for several children and adults, assistance to disabled women with transportation needs, dental and vision health care for local teens, relocation and adoption for neglected and abused children, and to raise awareness and funds to improve quality of life for those who are in need of assistance.

Volunteer help is always welcome. Participating in this event, register and/or charitable donations can help make this fundraiser a success. Please contact us if you can help. Any contribution of funds or gifts of goods donated from businesses are tax deductible. We are a non-profit charitable fundraiser.

The Ed Snell Memorial Fund is managed by volunteers to provide assistance for locals with special needs. Funds are generated from Sponsors, Donations, registration fees, and past t-shirt sales. At this years 34th Annual Run/Walk,

For our future races we will ask registered runners or walkers to get at least one additional sponsor to support this fund. Make a pledge and challenge yourself to being of service to this fun and exciting charitable event.

This will help to raise more funds for the Ed Snell Memorial Fund. You can have friends, family, or businesses sponsor you in this race. We will be giving a special award to the runner or walker that raises the most donations. You or your sponsor can donate by clicking on sponsor runners and walkers.

The Ed Snell Committee is a non-profit charitable organization managed totally by volunteer efforts. During our 25th anniversary we began making improvements with the future of this memorial fund as a commitment to our community. This will always be a work in progress and we thank everyone for their patience, time and effort in helping us improve this charitable fund raiser. THANK YOU!!!!

Our 34th Anniversary will be a special celebration as we co-create with Alma Foundation. Changes are being made to update the race course and registration location. It is an exciting year!

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS FOR THEIR DONATIONS!!!
