Jeffco Open Space Nature Journal Club:
Sunset Sketching

Friday, August 15, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM (MDT)

Mount Falcon Park West
21004 Mount Falcon Road
Indian Hills, CO 80454

Want to deepen your love of the natural world, notice nature’s tiniest details and spend time surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors? Then start keeping a sketchbook nature journal! Join us for a free journaling field trip in a Jeffco Open Space Park each month and make this activity a habit.

August's outing will feature a 3/4 mile hike to the Eagle Eye Shelter where we will record nature's twilight happenings in our journals and enjoy a potluck dinner. Techniques for painting sunsets will also be covered. Previous attendance at one of our basic nature journaling classes is helpful but not necessary. Instruction will be geared for adults, but children are welcome to attend with an adult.

All ages.

Please bring the following items:

·         Your own sketchbook, a pencil and any other art supplies you would like to use. We will also have some art materials to share.

·         Sturdy footwear, warm clothes and a rain coat.

·         Water

·         An item to share at our potluck dinner

·         Sunglasses and hat

·         A backpack or shoulder bag to carry your supplies

·         A portable chair, stool or sitting pad (optional but great to have if the ground is damp)

·         Binoculars (optional)

·         Your favorite field guides (optional)

An email will be sent out if the program needs to be changed or cancelled due to hazardous weather. For the comfort of fellow participants, please leave pets at home.

Also, please join the Jeffco Open Space Nature Journal Club Facebook page if you are interested. The page is a great place to find out about club happenings, share your sketches and journal pages, arrange carpools (in the summer trailheads will start to get packed) and chat with each other.
