Feeding the hungry in Bailey, Conifer, Evergreen and surrounding communities.
Empty Bowls events are held across the country and around the world to provide support for food banks, soup kitchens, and other organizations that fight hunger. Designed to raise awareness about the problem of hunger in our nation and local communities, these meals offer a simple fare of soup and bread, and feature the work of local artists, students and our neighbors who have donated hand-crafted or original painted bowls.
Our event’s goal is to raise awareness about the issue of hunger in our mountain community. This hunger is not limited to food as it may manifest itself in the additional need for clothing, healthcare, parenting and nutrition classes, or financial assistance. The mission of Mountain Resource Center is to answer those needs. We hope you will assist in these efforts by choosing among three meals through which you may support the cause: an Empty Bowls lunch or dinner at the Mountain Resource Center, or an Empty Bowls lunch at the Evergreen Lake House.
In addition to a simple meal of soup, bread and dessert, all donated by local restaurants and caterers, each guest may take home a unique hand-crafted "empty bowl," our gift to you and a reminder of those who face hunger every day. A silent auction will also be featured at each location. All proceeds go directly to providing food and support services mountain residents in need.
