Want to deepen your love of the natural world, notice nature’s tiniest details and spend time surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors? Then start keeping a sketchbook nature journal! Join us for a free journaling field trip in a Jeffco Open Space Park each month and make this activity a habit.
Halloween and skeletons go hand in hand. For this month’s journal club, head indoors to examine the nature center’s extensive animal bone collection. Using graphite pencils, learn to shade with a range of values to add depth to your drawings. While sketching skulls and skeletons, discover more about area wildlife and their unique adaptations for survival. Please bring an item for a shared potluck dinner.
Due to space limitations at the nature center, we will be offering this program twice to accommodate as many people as possible. Please sign up for only one date.
All ages.
Please bring the following items:
An email will be sent out if the program needs to be changed or cancelled due to hazardous weather. For the comfort of fellow participants, please leave pets at home.
Also, please join the Jeffco Open Space Nature Journal Club Facebook page if you are interested. The page is a great place to find out about club happenings, share your sketches and journal pages, arrange carpools (in the summer trailheads will start to get packed) and chat with each other.
