Steve Jobs was a masterful innovator and visionary - not to mention a brilliant CORPORATE CEO .

Thank Steve for Pixar - Toy Story, Finding Nemo and other Pixar classic films.

In recent decades there has been no other man do run two pubic companies to success. Additionally, he was able to masterfully use lower cost international human resources without causing a politically correct crowd backlash.

While I didn't accept Job's social politics, I respect his business acumen.

Unlike many, I'm an avid apple user. I simply like the elegance of this tool. What Steve saw and advocated was intuitive design. Intuitive to me anyway. Thanks to the structure of their software I never had to read a manual.

Read the story this morning (where i am) and learned a little about his family life. It was mostly dysfunctional until his mid life years when he actually sought out his biological mother and siblings. An interesting set of genetics.

RIP Steve.

Many people don't know this, or forget to mention... Disney had taken a massive downturn before its Pixar distributions and eventual acquisition, too... Steve Jobs has saved more than one major company! He was a primary funding source for Pixar, but also became the drive behind Pixar and pushing them to excel. The Pixar Story is a great documentary, if you ever have time! A lot of absolutely amazing people work(ed) there!

Never thought about the fonts issue. But it was through computers that I got my introduction to fonts and eventually learned about their significance in presenting a mood or attitude. Still not good at their use, but at least I'm aware now.

Some of the news articles I read referred to his commencement address at Stanford. It was most interesting reading, especially about the part where he realized what was important in life and that he knew it. In that same article, I also found it interesting that he quite college, realizing he did not know what he wanted and that his step parents were spending every dime they could muster to send him to school. He did not want them to suffer like that for him. I had no idea about his academic success or failure, but this is simply one example of smart not needing a formal education to get "smarter". He was smart and used his intelligence to gain insight in so many ways.

Yes, he had a major impact on Disney. It is truly amazing how he sensed what would and would not work. It's one of the reasons good CEO's get paid the dough. It's not something that can be taught.

What an amazing story- the invention and development of the personal computer. I lived it- saw it happen. It's as much of a technology change as the invention of electricity, the invention of the automobile, and the discovery of flight.

Even though I have never owned any apple products (and probably never will)- Steve contributed - they all contributed to the technology we use today. Here I sit in front of a very powerful 3d design workstation - the technology has changed my life.

Thanks to guys like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates- the world has changed and the amazing thing about it all was that these guys are just a few years older than me. What would the world have been like if these nerds had not done what they did? What if Bill Gates had not got involved with his grade schools ham radio / electronics club?

And it blows me away that all these guys are still alive- well until today. If any of have not seen the PBS documentary "triumph of the nerds"- it's a must see. The twists and turns of how the personal computer came to be is an awsome story.

It may be possible that Steve Jobs does not own even one single share of Apple any more (at one time he sold it all)- but then again he went back so maybe he does own some- apple is now the largest company in the USA- bigger than GE, Bigger than oil companies- bigger than Microsoft. At one time Jobs had to ask Bill Gates for money to keep apple afloat- and Gates gave it to him. As much as they hated each other - they respected each other too. These two men made thousands of Americans millionaires- anyone who was smart enough to invest in the companies at the right times.

These guys show us how great the Capitalism system is- and how it can change the world for the good.
