Highway 285 is expected to remain partially closed until 10 p.m. Saturday. The Colorado Department of Transportation recommends drivers take N. Turkey Creek as an alternate route.
I was stuck in some of the backup - took 30 minutes to get from Hwy 8 to the accident. I was in the outside lane (southbound) and was passed on the right by a motorcycle who then cut in front of me. About 10 minutes later another two motorcyclists did the same thing. So here we all are, stop and go due to an accident, and three morons risked their lives because they're so special they shouldn't have to wait along with the rest of us. Sheesh!
All lanes open: US 285 both directions at Parmalee Gulch Road; accident cleared
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
We were stuck southbound around 7pm - took 45 minutes to get to Indian Hills. All the northbound traffic was blocked off and being sent onto S. Turkey Creek Rd. It was kinda creepy to NOT see traffric coming the other direction. When we got past the semi, they were JUST starting to set up the fences to get cows into horse trailers. That was almost 8 pm.

Not to pick on you CinnamonGirl, but I imagine the cows were in a bit of discomfort the moment they were herded onto the truck. It is just not an everyday occurance for cows to go for a ride. Where exactly do you think they were going? Down to Chatfield for a swim, the Art Museum, McDonalds? I think we have a winner....
I am curious how they rallied all the horse trailers, was that the evac group?
I understand what you are saying let me be clear, when that tipped over that was probably agony for those cows. I do believe that when cows are slaughtered it is less painful than what just happened yesterday. Being slaughtered is usually quick. Being on top of each other in that truck is unimaginable to me.
