I was against it before and I still am. Don't think we could break even on it much less make a profit. But then if we could watch curling live...well...
I heard on the news last night, that they cannot have any events above an elevation of 5,800 feet so my question is how the hell do you have all the skiing, etc events in DENVER?

The newscaster must have left out a word Angela. see Martin E's link. They could ressurect the Broadmoor ski area, downhill times would be around 2 seconds. C Springs has plenty of skating venues, including a curling rink, Cydl.
London is finding out this summer that the Olympics is scaring away their regular tourists who don't want to crowds and don't like the price gouging of the hotels etc.
So Paris lost the Olympics to London but is gaining as people choose to visit the French capital over London.
So Utah would probably love it if Colorado hosted the Olympics. Traditional Colorado visitors would get to try out Utah's resorts for the first time.
Winter Olympics in 2022? I thought Al Gore said we wouldn't have any snow by then? Kidding!!!!
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
But, there is a lot of traffic leading up to the Olympics. There are more races on the host slopes for several years. I know, because my DH had to go up to Lake Placid every year to get on as a race steward for three years in a row.
So, figure you have all kinds of people who want to work at the Olympics. They will be coming to Colorado. I'm not saying I approve of CO having the Olympics. I am pointing out that there are advantages even before the Olympics.
