To bad there are lot of comedians better on the strip or you could be an opening act.
She knows i'll do whatever it takes. For 30 years when we ate she always got the best piece of meat, the biggest baked potato and the first cut of cake for desert...
She knows that under ANY circumstances that I will provide for her.
I assume that if I need to bug out that I need to be prepared for any eventuality, I guess if you wanted to you could assume that the highways and airports are open and you can get from where you are to where you want to go with little or no trouble and delay. I make no such assumptions, plan for the worst and if it happens at least you have done your best to prepare.
Frankly, when the next disaster occurs and the majority is headed into Denver or Colorado Springs I'll be heading west or north. Avoid the congestion and stay away from the crowds, you'll have a better chance of preserving your supplies and surviving in the short term IMHO. Keeping a low profile goes a long way to contributing to personal preservation in times of crisis.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

We tend to travel lighter so important papers are kept in a steel case and the computer is backed up more frequently so we can grab the hard drive and not worry about the computer and its components. Since we tend to plan for worst case scenario, being stranded or on our own, food, water, matches, tarp, jacket, change of clothes, knife, small medical kit and my climbing gear all in a backpack. Most of this comes from volunteering in foreign countries and the need to be prepared for anything. Obviously a bit sparse but thought I would mention it anyway.
Couldn't find this thread. I knew I read it here.
Thanks trekker, I picked up my small steel case to put with my bug out bag.
And thanks otis for the suggestion to go the opposite way of traffic. Not one that I would have initially considered since more family is down the hill but worth doing to avoid the snarls and jams, considering there aren't that many ways out of here.

LOL ok VL you got me, that is a scary thought considering we are neighbors. Now I will have to double my efforts to make my way out by vehicle or by foot.

I guess if you have to hoof it out then a good pair of boots and a supply of socks would be a good idea; that's already in my bag plus a spare pair of boots, thin nylon socks, and wool socks. BTW it's my humble opinion that anything you put in your bug out bag should be broken in, tested, and known to function correctly. A brand new pair of boots will likely produce blisters and make bugging out on foot painful and maybe too slow depending on the emergency.
