Location: Sand Springs Prescribed Burn - Unit A and B
Acres Burned: 142 Acres
Comments: Public and firefighter safety is the number-one priority in prescribed fire operations. Crews successfully ignited all 112 acres in Unit B today. All control lines held and objectives were successfully met. A 20-person handcrew and a Type-3 Engine will remain on scene, patrolling the control lines overnight. Additional resources will return in the morning to begin mop-up and further securing the edges. Smoke may negatively impact visibility along highway 126 at times and, therefore, caution is advised.

Large logs and branches continue to smolder this morning on the #SandSpringsRX. Crews are working to lessen the amount of smoke in the area by piling logs and cooling down remaining heat sources. #SouthPlatteRD
Comments: Public and firefighter safety is the number-one priority in prescribed fire operations. Today’s fire activity mainly consisted of smoldering stumps holes, heavy logs, litter, and duff layers. Firefighters began the process of mopping-up by extinguishing burning materials closest to the control lines. They made good progress and all activity stayed within the control lines. Work will continue tomorrow morning and each following day until the fire is declared out. It is expected that smoke may negatively impact visibility along highway 126 at times and, therefore, caution is advised.

We are aware of light smoke on the #SouthPlatteRD along Highway 126 / Forest Service Road 550. Crews conducted the #SandSpringsRX last week & interior pockets + big logs continue to smolder. We are monitoring and cooling down hot spots using hoses. #goodfire
