The Good Land

Today's Scripture

“For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills.” Deuteronomy 8:7, NIV

God has a place prepared for you just like He prepared a place for His people in Scripture. Notice that in this place God has prepared, there is no shortage of resources, no shortage of favor, no shortage of health, no shortage of creativity, of friendships, of joy and peace. In the good land, you will lack no good thing. He wants to lead you into a good land that’s flowing with increase, flowing with good breaks, flowing with opportunities. He wants you to live in a place where you not only have enough for yourself, but you’re running over with blessings for others.

If you’re not in this good land, don’t settle there. The key is, in order to get God’s results, we have to do things God’s way. Our obedience is what opens the door to His blessings. We have to do our part and humble ourselves before Him and keep pressing forward with an attitude of faith and expectancy. Today, put Him first, follow His commands, and let Him lead you into the good land.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness in my life and for the good land that You have prepared for me. I humble myself before You and desire to be obedient in every area of my life. I want to follow You as You lead me into the land of more than enough. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Nothing Wasted

Today's Scripture

When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” John 6:12, NIV

When Jesus fed a crowd of five thousand, it says He blessed and multiplied five loaves and two fishes. Everyone had more than enough to eat, and there were still twelve baskets full of bread left over. That’s because we serve a God of abundance. Then Jesus told the disciples to collect all the leftovers so that nothing was wasted. With God, nothing is ever wasted. He’ll never waste an experience, never waste a hurt, never waste a dream, never waste even a piece of bread.

If you’ve felt as though you’ve wasted years of your life in the wrong job, hanging around the wrong people, or doing the wrong things, God will gather those years and restore them to you. He’ll take those experiences that the enemy meant for your harm and turn them around for your good. Every challenge you’ve gone through has deposited something inside you. He’ll make you stronger, wiser, and better off than you were before. Be encouraged today because with God, all things are possible! He is your provider, and nothing is ever wasted.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You are able to take every bit of my life—my past, my present, and my future—and turn it around for my good. Thank You that You have the power to bless and multiply so that I am better off than I was before. I know that with You nothing is ever wasted. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Declare Victory

Today's Scripture

“All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17:47, NIV

When David went out to face Goliath, before he slung that rock, he got his sword out. Not a physical sword, but the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. He looked at Goliath and said, “This day I will prove to everyone here that the battle is the Lord, that the victory is not by sword or spear.” He declared victory. He declared God’s favor. He could have said, “God, why is this giant in my path? He’s twice my size. I don’t have the training in warfare. This is not a fair fight.” If David would have talked like that, you wouldn’t be reading about him today. David knew how to swing his sword. Before he slung that rock, he had already defeated Goliath.

Here’s the point: If you swing your sword, God will direct the rock. If you declare victory, He’ll bring down the giants. Every day you need to declare victory over what opposes you, declare your purpose and destiny. Don’t be passive. God has the favor, the healing, the abundance.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that no matter what I face, no matter how big it looks, that the battle belongs to You and not to me. Help me use my words to declare victory. I believe that as I speak words of faith out loud that I will see You release Your promises in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Peace and Unity

Today's Scripture

And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. James 3:18, NLT

Today, more than ever, peace and unity are so important because we have an enemy who targets our families and relationships and brings division. Adversity comes. Disagreements happen. We have to do whatever we can to stand together. One of the most powerful ways you can strengthen your relationships is by being a peacemaker.

Think about a campfire. It can only burn as long as someone is throwing logs on it. Maybe you feel as though you have a fire of strife and confusion in your home or in your workplace. If you stay focused on your differences, there is going to be division. However, if you change your focus and look for the common ground of peace, you can bring harmony into your relationships again. If you ask God to help you be a peacemaker, if you stop throwing logs on the fire, He will supernaturally cause that fire to be extinguished. When we dwell together in unity, we honor God and open the door for His hand of blessing in every area of our lives.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for being the God of peace and for the promise that You will be with me. I choose to humble myself, to be patient, to bear with others, and live in peace and unity. I declare that I will stop fueling the fires of strife that divide us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Keep the Negative Out

Today's Scripture

The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest. Exodus 14:14, AMPC

You may be in a situation that’s unfair, somebody did you wrong, you’re dealing with an illness, or you’ve gone through a loss. You couldn’t control what happened, and you can’t make that go away. You can’t stop the negatives and offenses from coming. You can’t stop people from doing you wrong, and you can’t stop the bad breaks. You could be worried, bitter, and upset. This is when you have to dig down deep and determine to not be controlled by what you don’t have control over. You must realize you control how you respond to it. Don’t give away your power by letting the negative in. You have to say, “I’m keeping my walls up. I’m not letting that negativity into my spirit. I’m going to keep singing praises and thanking God. I will remain at rest, and I know God will fight my battles.” He’ll pay you back for the unfair things. He’ll bring beauty out of those ashes. He will take care of what is trying to stop you.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You have power over what I cannot control. When I face problems that seem overwhelming, help me learn to hold my peace and remain at rest. I am believing that You will fight my battles and get me to where I’m supposed to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

The Gracious Hand of God

Today's Scripture

And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests. Nehemiah 2:8, NIV

Nehemiah was a cupbearer to the Persian king, Artaxerxes, when he prayed a bold prayer that the king be favorable to help him restore the broken-down walls of Jerusalem. Even though there was no reason why the king would help, when Nehemiah went to the king, the first thing the king said was, “How can I help you?” When God puts a big dream in your heart, He’s already lined up the right people to help you. Not only that, but the king agreed to provide the timbers, building supplies, and a military escort to keep him safe on the thousand-mile journey.

Nehemiah would tell you, “When you’re facing a big obstacle that looks impossible, thoughts will tell you that it will never work out. But the right people will be there to help you, the funds will show up, the good breaks will come. You have an advantage. The gracious hand of God is on your life.” There is favor on your life that will cause you to do what you could never do on your own.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for the dreams You put in my heart. Thank You that You have the right people and everything I need ready at the right time and place. I declare that Your gracious hand of favor is helping to take me to new levels. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Show Up for Life

Today's Scripture

Make the most of every living and breathing moment because these are evil times. Ephesians 5:16, VOICE

If you’re going to be fulfilled, you have to show up for life, meaning you have to be there when you get there. Don’t show up focused on the future or on the past, living in regrets. Come into today. Yes, it’s good to have goals and vision, but you can’t be so focused on what’s next that you miss what you have right now. I know people who lost what they had by being so intent on going after what they wanted. They missed their child growing up and the joy of their relationship with their spouse. They came home, but they weren’t there. They were distracted, always planning for the future, and never came into the present.

Today’s Scripture says to make the most of this very moment. What are you doing with today? Are you embracing where you are, present and connected, or are you present and disengaged? Make up your mind that you’re going to enjoy each moment, enjoy your family, enjoy the people with whom you work, and enjoy the beauty of creation.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You are calling me to make the most of every moment of every day. Thank You for the people You have brought into my life. Help me to give them my full focus and love. I declare that I have made up my mind to enjoy them and not miss out. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Wow!

Today's Scripture

The God who summons horses and chariots and armies—they lie down and then can’t get up; they’re snuffed out like so many candles: “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.” Isaiah 43:17–19, MSG

In today’s Scripture, God reminded the Israelites who were held captive in Babylon that He opened a way through the Red Sea in the exodus, that He called forth the mighty armies of Pharaoh and drowned them in the waters. “But forget about all of that. It’s nothing compared to what I’m about to do when I bring you out of captivity.” This brand-new thing was going to be far greater than anything they’d seen in the past.

We all can look back and see when God parted Red Seas for us. He’s opened doors that shouldn’t have opened, had us in the right place at the right time to meet someone special, turned our health around. We’re grateful. We know it was the hand of God. But God is saying, “You haven’t seen anything yet. Forget about all that and get ready for something awesome, something that you haven’t seen, something that propels you to a new level.” When you see this new thing, you’re going to stand in amazement and say, “Wow, look what the Lord has done!”

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for the countless blessings You have brought me and how Your hand has been upon my life in so many ways. Thank You that I can get my hopes up and know that You have something bigger and better than I’ve expected. I stand in awe of Your goodness to me and can only say, ‘wow.’ In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Without a Single Fault

Today's Scripture

Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. Colossians 1:22, NLT

It’s so important that you learn to forgive yourself. We have an enemy who loves to accuse us of our past failures and the times we got off course, bringing condemnation and guilt to cause us to be against ourselves. The accuser will tell you that you’ve given in to temptation so many times that you aren’t worthy of God’s forgiveness, that you’ll always be guilty. Don’t believe that lie. The apostle Paul says that God sees you as holy, blameless, and without fault. We see our faults and all we’ve done wrong, but when you asked God to forgive you, He cleared your record. He sees you without a single fault.

The question is, do you see yourself without a single fault, as holy, as blameless? As long as you’re still beating yourself up for what was in your past, as long as you’re living condemned, you are your own enemy. You have to get in agreement with God and believe that what He says about you is true. You are holy and blameless in Christ.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that when the accuser tries to dump a load of guilt on me, I can say with authority, ‘Condemnation is not acceptable here. Jesus paid the price.’ I am far from perfect, but I will not drag yesterday’s failures into today. I am holy, blameless, and without a single fault. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Reach Out

Today's Scripture

Jesus said to Zacchaeus, “Today you and your family have been saved, because you are a true son of Abraham.” Luke 19:9, CEV

It’s easy to look at someone like Zacchaeus, a dishonest and despised tax collector, and make judgments, to find fault and condemn, and stay away. But Jesus came down to lift, to heal, to restore every person. Jesus called Zacchaeus out of a huge crowd of people and said, “I want to go to your house for dinner.” The religious leaders and the priests said, “Why would Jesus go to this crook’s house when He’s in the midst of fine, upstanding people like us?” They believed God was holy and righteous, but they didn’t believe He stoops to notorious sinners. Jesus didn’t say a word of condemnation to Zacchaeus because he was off course, but He loved him and brought salvation to him and his family. Since God stooped down for you, why don’t you stoop down for someone else? Why don’t you reach out and love them? There’s enough judgment in our world today. There’s enough criticism and faultfinding. Let’s be lifters. Let’s be encouragers. Let’s help someone else experience the God who stoops.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for freely giving me Your mercy that I might freely give it to others. Thank You that I can stoop to lift the fallen, to restore the broken, and to heal the hurting. Help me be willing to love people who are messy and not turn away from them. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
