Animal control is helping evacuate animals in the area. Large animals will likely be sent to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds and smaller animals will be taken to the Table Mountain Animal Center.

Per Denver Post.

A fire burning near Evergreen Parkway and Squaw Road in Jefferson County has prompted the evacuation of a residential area and is threatening several homes.

An automated emergency calling system was issued before 3 p.m. and deputies are going door-to-door to alert residents in the Evergreen neighborhood about the evacuation, Jackie Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's office said.

It was not immediately known how many homes have been evacuated.

Residents are being ordered to go to the Buchanan Park Recreation Center at 32003 Ellingwood Trail, Kelley said.

Children who were at school and live in the neighborhood are being bused to the center where their parents can meet them.

"Most people are not at home, so they are not getting that evacuation call," Kelley said.

Animal control is helping evacuate animals in the area. Kelley said large animals will likely be sent to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds and smaller animals will be taken to the Table Mountain Animal Center.

There are several road closures in the area including Evergreen Parkway and County Road 65, County Road 65 and Soda Creek and County Road 65 near Interstate 70, Kelley said.

I-70 has not been closed.

i am listening to the live feed from a link that was provided. listening to wildfire at danks and north turkey creek. i will let jf do the particulars.

i just came in to ask about the one on squaw pass. any updates on size? we were on hiway 74 when we saw the smoke. i was going to call it in but saw a firefighter responding with lights and sirens so i figured fire trucks shouldn't be too far behind. wind came up and the flames went further up the hill crowning in the trees. we got out of the way so didn't get to see. i read the the links and updates here. thanks.

JF1 is gone for a few more minutes. This is why this info is not official yet. We have heard there may be another fire and will get a location if we can.
