Something you may not know about me. I am absolutely amazed by hurricanes. I will be watching this one big time. I don't want to see people hurt and carnage but I think that are amazing forces of nature.

My son and daughter-in-law live in Greenwich Village, right now they are in Vermont vacationing. They can't decide if they should go back before it hits, or stay where they are and go home when it is all over......

I grew up in MD, and worked/lived on the Chesapeake Bay, where we saw a major hurricane every 5 years or so.

Maryland was among the famously smashed states with Hurricane Agnes back in the 70s (most of the damage was caused by rain in Pennsylvania).

The one I remember most is Gloria - in the 80s.

My College campus suddenly became a fan of the Doors. Classes were cancelled --- evacuation advisories were issued (we ignored them - we were too busy listening to the Doors). I actually weathered the storm standing watch on a boat, tucked away in a remote creek --- where we saw 3 foot waves (in water that was only 5 feet deep).

I wonder how they will fair against the land sharks.
