Listeria & Canteloupe

NPR was saying tonight that it can take a couple weeks for the symptoms to show up. Sort of like having a very quiet ticking time bomb inside you. They expect more sickness and death even though people have stopped eating canteloupe for weeks now.

One of my coworker's daughters was just diagnosed. Scary.

We threw 2 cantaloupes out a week or so ago. This is very scary.
Back at the beginning of this, our pregnant daughter displayed some of these symptoms and luckily they were un related. Listeria is very dangerous to pregnant women and their unborn child.
I will say some prayers for your coworkers daughter.

It's actually 1-2 months.

And they said to clean your refrigerator thoroughly, because listeria grows in the cold as well. Any food that could have been touched by the canteloupe should be tossed as well. If it's in a jar or container, then clean container well.

Bleach is your friend.

it is only going to affect those with compromised immune systems, otherwise, our bodies process this kind of thing all the time.

Still think I will clean/disinfect the fridge this weekend. I am not a big fan of cantaloupe but I worry about cross contamination.

My coworker's daughter is down 20 pounds in one week, worst weight loss plan ever! Luckily she isn't health compromised and they are treating her like severe food poisoning. She is drinking slowly gatorade style drinks and baby food.

So how did the cantalope get infested with the bacteria?

They believe illegals picking the fruit left their Wayn-O on the packaging system after wiping their butt.

Yep, gotta make sure that Liberal Parvovirus doesn't infect the household.
