On Saturday, October 1, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office will join forces with the Colorado State Patrol, Wheat Ridge Police Department, Denver Police Department, Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in an effort to crack down on drunk drivers.
DUI Task Force saturation patrols will begin at 8 p.m. and conclude at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning. All areas in unincorporated Jeffco will be included in the enforcement efforts, using over 30 law enforcement personnel from the participating jurisdictions.
In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol related collisions, saturation patrols are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as to educate the public on the dangers of driving while impaired. All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. The purpose of these enforcement details is to reduce those tragedies. By publicizing these enforcement and educational efforts, law enforcement believes motorists can be deterred from driving while impaired.

Stay away from Red Rocks this weekend too. I predict a lot of tickets in the Morrison area. Too many of those damn hippies Deadheads out for a 3 nights in a row. But if you are going through that area on Saturday or Sunday and you see me handcuffed to the bumper of a cruiser please stop and help a brother out.
I think they've already started increasing enforcement in general - when hubby and I went up to the Evergreen Farmer's Market this past Tuesday, we passed a speed trap on 6th Ave at noon that had no less than 6 cops with cars already pulled over, and one sitting shooting laser. Then proceeded to pass at least 8 more throughout the remainder of the day from Evergreen to Lakewood.
I have no problem with them going after drunks on the road, but a speed trap with 7 cops on 6th Ave in the middle of the day? How's a girl supposed to enjoy a ride in her convertible on a gorgeous sunny afternoon??!! tongue:
