Unless you are actively giving CPR to an accident victim at this very moment, drop whatever you are doing and watch this stunning, mind-blowing time lapse video of the Earth at night, taken by astronauts aboard the International Space Station:
If you’ve ever wondered what it must feel like to fly around the Earth at 28,000 kilometers per hour, then wonder no more.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
Uncredible!!! I especially liked the views of the major metro area lights at nighttime and the lightning storms from space. Very cool and thanks for sharing.
Actually, it's not that much different than night time flying. Space simply gives you an even higher perspective, but I always marvel at the spider web pattern of lights that define metro areas and major highways on my way to the Middle East and back. It's also interesting to see the non-metro areas, the little communities isolated by vast expanses of darkness.
Pretty awesome video there.
Remember flying thru the equator numerous times from Europe and the States to S. America.
Just before crossing that line you would see thunderstorms erupting in the distance and lightning over the Northern Amazon rain forest.
Spectacular displays and then the turbulence ! While the flights generally were very smooth and quiet at night, once one hits the Equator the winds pick up and storms develop. A Truly remarkable view of nature over the primeval jungle
