Special Pondering: Can One Person Make a Difference?
19 December 2011 - by Peg

My answer is YES and here is why:

Last May, I was on Twitter in a hashtag community when a new person popped in: Dave Reynolds otherwise known as @997Dave. He was pretty new to Twitter so I befriended him as did many others. Over the last eight months, Dave has evolved into a very special social media personality that is using his influence to help his community. I’d like to share Dave’s story with you.

This is the power of community (online, virtual community as well as real life), using your social influence for social good and how one selfless, hard-working person CAN and DID make the difference. Dave doesn’t just say “be the change” he IS the change.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

I firmly believe that only one person makes a difference. Everything wonderful can be traced back to an individual with a passion.

You never know when that one thing you do changes someone's life even just a little bit. Even just a smile for someone that needs it goes a long way.
