Trader Joe's 'most likely' opening store at Boulder's Twenty Ninth Street

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

First of all, I'm not surprised they are going to Boulder first. What took them so long? When I was in Reno (far more primitive than Boulder) we had a Trader Joe's for several years, and I did go there a few times but it wasn't my thing, though the Shaw wine wasn't too bad.

So far as full disclosure goes, I must admit I was far more excited about finally getting 7 mbs DSL service here than anything about an organic food store. And the few times I've gone to Whole Foods, it seemed they had a lot more than Trader Joe's, but my guess is that Joe's is cheaper?

Anyway, I'm sure my wife will love the Trader Joe's just as much as I enjoy my 7 mbs DSL. lol

Bah, humbug!

I'm with you PITG. I went back home once and discovered there was one just down the road from my Mom's. It was small, crowded (not with people), dirty and there wasn't anything I wanted. Although I did find a really nice pair of sunglasses for a good price.

I may have to risk crossing over the border back into the people's republic from time to time to visit trader joe's.

Up until now- I've had to import my 2 buck chuck- by the way- it's not 2 buck chuck anymore- more like 4 buck chuck. I buy it by the case when I get a chance- get a few years worth.

It may not be possible to buy any wine at the Boulder store though- Colorado law does not allow a grocery store to sell booze- anything other than 3.2 beer is banned. This was the main reason that Trader Joe's had not expended to Colorado in the past- they have stated this.

Also- franchise liquor stores are not allowed in Colorado- so Trader Joe's- if it was allowed to sell wine, would only be able to sell out of 1 store in the state unless the law gets changed.

There are other items I like at Trader's- some Italian stuff I can't get anywhere else. The only time I get a chance to shop at a trader joe's is when I'm in California- and that is not very often.

What's so special about another Grocery store?

Unless you have been to a Trader Joe's- you wouldn't know. I just like the store because it carries unique items.

Actually, grocery stores are permitted to sell alcohol in Colorado. But, the catch is.................it can only be sold at ONE store not all of them. This will enable Trader Joe's to sell in their store in Boulder, but if they expand, they will still only be able to sell alcohol in one store only.
