Verizon will have LTE service soon, and an Iphone in Sept. That will make the choice much easier. I have both, and the open development of the Android platfrom is much nicer. More variety than Apple. Less refined.
We both have iPhones up above Fairplay. The towers here are not AT&T, but the service kinda-sorta-almost works. Texting is fine, phone calls, both in and out are very problematic. If we got to a certain area of our Cabin, signal is good, otherwise, rarely do we receive incoming calls. There are two nearby towers, one at the Northwest Fire Station on the side of Fairplay, and one just down the road a bit above the Antero Reservoir... so where does our signal come from! Hartsel!!!
We do love all the other features of the iPhones, we have the iPhone 3, and just ordered the iPhone 4.
Consumer Reports said Monday it cannot recommend the iPhone 4 after testing confirmed " there is a problem with its reception."
The highly regarded publication said its engineers tested three iPhone 4s, and found that complaints by others about the phone's reception are valid.
There is, the magazine noted, an "affordable solution for suffering iPhone 4 users. Cover the antenna gap with a piece of duct tape or another thick, non-conductive material. We'll test a few cases this week and report back.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
I can't decide on the new Droid with Verizon, or wait till the IPhone comes to Verizon. AT&T does not work at our house in CO...but we get a good signal with Verizon. I have watched my son wrangle with AT&T for years, they are less than customer friendly, and he loses signal when the bandwith is overloaded. But he is sold on the IPhone (and everything else Apple). I wish they would announce exactly when the IPhone will come to Verizon, I've heard September and January as possibilities. Seeing the above post (after I wrote my post), maybe the Droid is the way to go.
