Act Of Valor - A perspective

Having spent over 21 years in the Submarine Service both Enlisted and as a commssioned Officer - please pardon but I care less what the SEALS reveal but I am disturbed about the exposure of ANY sub tatics associated with this film ---SILENT SERVICE is forever Silent.........lets just say it was fake

I say let the public speculate all they want about what a boat can and can't do, Hollywood has put out plenty of films depicting military capabilities that will always be pure fiction. No need for those who know to confirm or deny the truth.

I have been avoiding this movie mostly because I suspected it would be too heavy on the "Obama killed Osama" campaign booster effort. Was there any of that in this movie? Should I go and see it or wait for the one dollar version to come out and rent it or just not bother at all?

My understanding is that it was made with the full cooperation of the DOD & SpecWar and the left is panning it.

Bob, you know as well as the rest of us that they will only give out stuff that makes the mouths water and nothing else. The real stuff is not going anywhere. The media will not get it as most of it is classified. So they made a movie that those that have not been there will do the wow and ahh and whatever. The real stuff and actions etc will never make it to the media, even if they think they did. Deltamrey was dead on.

I saw it and it had nothing to do with Obama/Osama. Just a great tribute to our fine warriors! And while they may have been fibbing about the some of the tactics and procedures used, it looked pretty authentic to me.

I've never known anything from personal experience about submarine service. Back in the time, I did learn a lot from reading Hunt for Red October. It was fiction, but it opened my eyes with lots of details. I have no idea what has changed since then, nor how accurate it was.

We are going to see this next weekend. Our son really enjoyed it and highly recommended it.

Indeed I do. That was my point. This was ether made as a recruiting tool or as something else. Probably both. This is not the forum for that as I did a tour at something else.
