Being a political junkie and academic, most of the people I've met drift around in one of those two circles.
- Jimmy Carter (former president)
- GGeorge Herbert Walker Bush (former president)
- Jesse Jackson (presidential candidate)
- Jesse Ventura (he was mayor of my town)
- William Bennett (former Secretary of Education)
- Jack Kemp (late congressman)
- David Stockman (former OMB director)
- Jane Goodall (activist)
- Michael Medved (political commentator)
- 6 different Nobel Laureates (2 of them were my teachers)
- Tom Clancy (author)
- Carl Medearis (author)
- Gerald Posner (author)
- Michael Koss (headphone maven)
- Bobby McFerrin (musician/philosopher/conductor)
Have run into a few other assorted individuals in Durango, and met quite a few VIPs when I worked in the muddle east for a sheikh who had a fetish for VIPs - but won't bother to enumerate that list, as well.
I've decided that celebrities are over-rated. They tend to be full of themselves. Not that my opinion matters - but I was most impressed by Carter. Second would likely be Jane Goodall. I'd also say that Bush was very personable.
I met Liz Taylor at the Scottish Games in Alexandria VA when she was married to Senator what's-his-face. She was giving out the awards. I snuck up and accepted one even though it wasn't mine.
Only joking. I saw her giving out the awards from across the football field.

Joe wrote: Goose Gossage! I loved to watch him pitch when I was a Yankees fan. I heard he has a restaurant in Co. Springs. Cool!
He went to my high school a few years before me. He came and spoke at an assembly at school. I had no clue, since we didnt really have baseball in CO. Years later I met him at a small party, it was when the Rockies were first starting up, and I was learning about MLB. He appreciated my enthusiasm for Baseball, but was more interested in talking about his cows. I have his autograph, wanta see it? It is worth $20.00 because that is the onlypiece of paper I had available
