Scathing critisism?

I just gave my opinion on what I heard for 5 hours.
It was a cluster.
I am deeply thankful to the firefighters, deputies and volunteers who go out and actually do something for people.
I am deeply appreciative of the folks here who listened and tried to share that info with their neighbors rather than just keeping it to themselves.

Here is a cluster for ya!

The facts are the facts @sshat.
You were listening.....Did you just not really know what you were hearing?

I don't need to deflect anything. I am entitled to my opinion just as you are here.

I just find it sad that people say thank you then criticize in the same thread is it that hard to start another.

I want to say thank you everyone.

My, my. Resorting to childish curse words. You do set the bar high, don't you?

Thanks for that link detailing the hour-long communications problem. I think Bill McLaughlin came up with a workable solution in a hurry and I applaud him for his ingenuity. I remember reading about a similar radio problem at Columbine where the different law enforcement agencies couldn't talk to each other.

Yeah, please don't call Jeffco to ask if you should evacuate your family as the fire is bearing down on you. They've got better things to do than talk to you, according to this Becky person on 285Bound who is an expert on the subject, kind of the Aunt Bee of 285 scanner monitors.

Becky wrote: I have to say that I have listened to a lot of fires over the years but I have never seen a bigger cluster than what we have heard today.
Multiple IC's. Multiple frequencies for command channels. Repeated changing of IC locations and staging location. Lost crews. A complete lack of communication across the board.
My deepest thanks to those who were out there risking their lives for all of us today.
Shame on Jeffco for the lack of leadership they provided

It appears you don't like comments about scanner folks but you don't mind handing it out where other people are concerned. All this from a statement that even scanner people who post filter the information they hear, just as the PIO's and media do. It wasn't an incorrect statement and I'm not sure why it upset you so much.

Personally, I think the firefighters and law enforcement did the best job they could in a very fluid situation, with the equipment they had. And that includes Jeffco leadership (although I'm not sure who you consider Jeffco leadership. Perhaps you could expand on that). Maybe you could enlighten us all since you seem to be such an expert on firefighting response and emergency response.

I have heard there will be a thorough review of what went wrong in this fire and that is as it should be. People want answers. I just don't think the day the fire breaks out, five hours into the the fire, is really the time to be criticizing what happened. But that's just me. Obviously you don't have a problem with that.

You are a condescending pompass @ss (If I had a more appropriate language, I would use it)

Your comments as a whole offend me.

I will say this one more time.....slowly if you need me to.......

I think I have said that at least 5 times on this site in the last 4 days.

I fault no one who was out there doing their job but.......The handling of this fire was poorly managed.

You want to beat me up for my opinions then fine....you do that. I could care less what you think of me.

People lost their lives and property and this community deserves better than what they got from the management side of this.

I do have a problem with how this fire was initially handled. I am glad that I said it out loud while it was still very fresh in my mind.

Just for your timeline......my post was at

That statement was made in reference to people calling to just acquire information about the fire.
Jeffco was in the process of responding to 5 fires at the same time. They had their hands full and didn't need News media, websites or looky loos calling in out of curiosity.

I don't care for snide comments made about people who work hard to keep their community informed. (even if they do it for ungrateful people like you)

The reasons for my critical comments regarding the initial response to this fire were to raise awareness that we should all strive to learn from mistakes and to better the response next time.
If people don't voice their concerns.....lessons are never learned.

edited to add....I will not help ANYONE sweep this one under a rug.

Thanks to all the businesses who have provided food, like Wing Wagon, Wendys, Starbucks and so many more to the firefighters and evacuees. Our best way of saying thanks to visit you and we have and will continue!!! Thank you.

I didn't know the Lucas family but the more I learn about them the more I treasure all they did for our community. Thank you and positive thoughts and prayers for your family.

So many lessons learned from this fire already. I do hope that all the fire fighting agencies can work something out so that they can communicate with each other. The mountain terrain adds another challenge. And that there is some practice with the reverse 911 outside of an emergency to work out the glitches before it is needed in an emergency.

IF there is a "lesson learned" (I hope) it is this.........do NOT depend upon ANYONE to tell you what to do......IF there is indication that
a dangerous situation is unfolding......STOP,BREATHE and LISTEN to your inner instinct. Because todays society is SO-O-O isolated
from nature, the "real" authentic world around them, they have forgotten how to THINK FOR THEMSELVES.......you (collectively) must
be cognizant and attuned to your surrounding/your world. If the cell phone video of the family BARELY escaping death does NOT bring
this front and center.....I do NOT know what will. Apparently this fire "set up" in the perfect storm, because complacency/mis communicaton/and inattentiveness all came together to create a dire "learning lesson"......I ask that we ALL do some introspection and
make this sad saga an opportunity to IMPROVE in the future. Lots of blame to go around.....INCLUDING ourselves here in this community.JMO
