McCandless, now a resident of Conifer, Colorado, objected to the use of this photo on the album as an unfair and unauthorized exploitation of his image, name, likeness and identity.
The recent $2.2 million purchase of the Grand View Ranch by the Colorado Division of Wildlife is expected to protect important wildlife habitat while providing additional hunting access and ensuring the future of a public shooting range in Grand County.
The 940-acre former ranch property becomes part of the larger Hot Sulphur Springs State Wildlife Area. It's an important east-west migration corridor for deer and elk and provides significant habitat for greater sage grouse. It also provides hunting access to thousands of acres of public land.

A larger budget shortfall might call for the closure of Lathrop State Park near Walsenburg, St. Vrain State Park, Spinney Mountain State Park in Park County and San Luis State Park, which borders Great Sand Dunes National Park. Closing those parks would save the state $360,000.
On the closing day of the 2010 Colorado archery elk season, two local hunters — Todd Clark of Fairplay and Keith McHugh of Breckenridge — found themselves rescuing a trophy bull instead of hunting for one in Park County. The bull's antlers had become tightly entangled in approximately 30 feet of discarded steel cable from an abandoned mining site.
Memorials honor Denver-area homeless who died this year
DENVER (AP) — Advocates for the homeless, political and religious leaders and the homeless themselves are remembering people who lived and died on the streets in the Denver area.
About 100 people gathered Tuesday in a Boulder park to honor 22 homeless people who died in the past year. The Daily Camera reports that about 20 people out of Boulder County's roughly 1,200 homeless die every year.
In Denver, the names of 145 homeless people who died this year were read during a vigil on the steps of the City and County Building. The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless says those who died included 31 women and 114 men, ranging in age from 2 months to 81 years old.
