Elevated wooden decks should not be located at the top of a hill. Consider a terrace.

Makes all the work worth it.

Tomorrow should be the last day of dirt work and tamping for awhile. Let it settle for a bit and work on other projects. I think it will look nice as a terrace. Gives my aunt all kinds of possibilities for flowers and veggies. Good thing she has a domestic well.

Be interested in what you learn. Looks expensive. More expensive than using steel?

Never got there. Got in touch with a friend who tears down industrial sites, schools, etc. Found some posts, angle iron, channelling and a metal staircase and some other stuff so it looks like it will be a metal deck and staircase. I originally planned to rock the posts and some of the staircase but it looks nice enough the way it is.

Cool. Let me know if you need any help. I have a couple more days work on dropping some trees along my aunt's neighor's fence. We got a lot done today. Helps to have a team of nephews and sister. I really would like to see what supplies you got and what you have in mind. Thanks.

Any more ideas for alternatives to wood decks? If anyone should check out the cost of the wood from the link TPP posted, I would be interested in knowing.
