fewer taxpayers, less revenue......only two choices.....CUT services (fire clerks, cops, etc) or increase taxes.

Old hippies and laid off construction workers pay few taxes
we MUST attract more middle class wage earners from down the hill.

Look around - no construction, empty RTD lots, closed businesses
wake up ?? or not.

Old hippies and laid off construction workers put very little strain on the system either. If people have moved, lost their homes, etc, then they aren't putting a strain on the system either. Less people requires less services.

Govt is overhead. When the economy is cranking along, we have more overhead to spend on these things, and we need them. When the economy is slowing down, and people leave, we need to cut overhead, not increase it on those remaining.

Yes, we must attract middle class wage earners. But that isn't an issue. We live in a beautiful area. It will come back eventually, and we can add back that overhead.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

this tax increase will probably not pass
then the "locals" will be happy
well sort of
poor schools do not attract the taxpayers we need
and all services suffer
look at Park county
a "model" of civic responsibility
my, my

My guess is, if we had a high quality charter school in Conifer, it would be full. Quality has nothing to do with funds, it has to do with the administration of said funds.

I can't speak for park county....

Park county is a model of extremely poor management by county commissioners who seems to like to give alot of lip service.

All true. The commish like to spend money and have a failed jail to show for it.

As for Jeffco, in spite of how difficult times might be, I am wondering if a majority of Evergreen and some of Conifer might vote for the tax increase, citing that it is for the kids.
