Good to hear that no one was harmed, too bad those house are not habitable. Hopefully the Mommies and Daddies have made matches and lighters less accessible. I'm not sure what drives some kids but (IMHO) now is the appropriate time to have a serious conversation about the dangers of fire.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

In my day my rear would have also been on fire.

My Dad used to say "Nothing says I love you like a big red hand print on your ass." Growing up not many misdeeds went uncorrected and it always came with a lecture first entitled "Why This is the Wrong Thing to do" (after becoming an adult he explained to me that he needed to give the lecture first so he could calm down and put the situation in perspective).

Not having kids of my own I'm not sure that a smack on the ass would always be the best method of correcting a child's behavior but I know it worked on me. I can't say I never got a spanking I didn't have coming. As the oldest of three brothers the words I never wanted to hear were "that's enough, go get the razor strap from the shed." It never mattered who started or stopped a fight, everyone got the same punishment at that point, the fight was over and no one was ever dumb enough to continue the war... Except my youngest brother! Otto - you are still a moron!

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
