This is the first day of elk rifle hunting season.
Be safe out there.
Wear orange if you are a hiker in the national forest or live near one.

“When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex. Only whit man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.” Indian Chief Two Eagles
Thanks, but a few years back some dumba$$, shot the Ranger's horse out from under him.
BOTH all in orange. So I would suggest hike in OPEN SPACE parks, then you'll only have to worry about poachers.
O and be sure and write down, where, when, who, details as much as possible, and report them ASAP, But DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER! (Best way to do that is not to be seen.)
These slimeballs have NO repect for life/laws, so be careful, these slimeballs need to be taken down.
Thanks TPP for the reminder. You would be amazed the number of people who hike trails like Ben Tyler, Payne, Brookside-McCurdy in the national forest and don't have a clue that it is hunting season wandering off trail and not a stitch of orange to be seen. As you say better to walk open space than the national forest right now.

So sad. I saw a bull elk (largest rack I've ever seen up here) in my "yard" today and poor guy had an orange backpack caught up in his rack. He had at least 10 doe elks with him. Nothing like wearing a bullseye for hunting season!

rofllol That's a first freebird..."doe elk", NOT making fun, just some info, female elk are called cows, female deer are called does, (male elk are called bulls, they mate with cows and birth calves
, (a pattern),
male deer are called bucks, they mate with does and birth fawns
Aww, those are pretty TPP - did you take them at your place?

I wouldn't mess with that bull. Looks like he gored the last hunter who tried to shoot him and the backpack is all that is left.
