BREAKING NEWS: Black Forest Fire is blowing up. 7NEWS reporters are seeing large plumes of smoke and flames heading toward homes (like this one under construction). The evacuation area has been expanded. We are updating this report, it includes an evacuation map: http://ch7ne.ws/1bvSq2U

In addition, the shelter at New Life Church is closed due to heavy smoke. People directed to go to Palmer Ridge HS instead.

You can smell the smoke in the foothills and Denver looks socked in.

Hope the Evergreen fire does not restart......much drier now.....we were lucky it was damp on the floor and a containment could be put in place......otherwise a massive disaster would have happened.....now so dry a spark will start a real mess. Realize here we do not fight fires basically we attempt to contain(stop spread) if possible or let them burn out.....bout all that can be done. Mother nature rules.

Black Forest is now the worst fire in Colorado history, 360 homes. 15,000 acres burned. No containment. Very hard to fight because almost no hydrants in the area, only wells, so trucks are having to bring thier own water.
