My TDI has over 380K on the odometer. It's on its third set of pads and its second clutch. And no, I'm not one of those right laners on 285 either. But, like you, I pay attention to the traffic around me and ahead of me and rarely use the brakes except when coming to a mostly complete stop at the red signs. Occasionally I actually do come to a full and complete stop, but not very often. Accelerating kills fuel economy after all, so the less of it I do the better my fuel mileage - which is still averaging upwards of 47 mpg even with 380K on the odometer.

Take care of a vehicle and it will generally return the favor. Abuse it and it will respond in kind there as well. A lot like people come to think of it. lol
