Wonder how many know how to drive MANUAL transmissions? Is the problem worse, or better
when that factor is included?.....was in Ft. Lauderdale in Feb. last year, we borrowed my BIL
MANUAL BMW convertible. He told us that they are NOT afraid of the car being stolen, because
it is a RARE thing that people know how to drive a stick.....is that true? I was dubious about
it.

IIRC, manuals are very rare anymore and are usually an option if available. Even for Porsches.
I have heard of car jackings stopped because the bad guy didn't know how to drive a stick.

Manual transmissions are automatic now. In BMW's it is called Steptronic. You can easily switch from manual to automatic at the push of a button. On the heated steering wheel.
