We have 550 community survey responses so far, but we'd love to have more! Have you filled yours out yet? If not, please go to http://coniferareacouncil.org and click on the link there.

The county is updating their Master Development Plan regardless so if we don't submit our own input, we are at their mercy for the decisions they will make that will impact us for years to come. To make this a plan that we the community desire, we need to have a good representation so they take us seriously. Please make your voice heard! Let us know what kind of housing you'd like to see, infrastructure added or not, etc - anything that requires planning and building.

Results will be tabulated and available in August. Visit our website at coniferareacouncil.org for more information or email us at .

I filled out the survey. What I would like to understand is this....HOW did the "new" Safeway
Shopping center get approved when EVERYONE knew that water was a problem and that it
would be TOO COSTLY to put a boatload of businesses in that area? NOW we have a "graveyard"
of store fronts that could NOT afford the obscene rent that was required to pay for the water
issue.... :smackshead: NOT to mention that the center was "clear cut" to curb the cost of
development....there was INPUT from the community and it was ignored.... :pop

Take fifteen minutes to share your vision for Conifer!

Do you support a Rec District? Want more resources for our kids? Want more recreational activities?

This is your chance to let your voice be heard. Jefferson County is updating our Conifer Community/285 Corridor Community Plan. Let's send them a strong message about the kinds of development that we want in our community.

We're leaving the survey open until the end of June. We want to reach 2000 respondents so the County really hears our message.

Click on the link below to download the survey. If you have kids in your household, have them fill it out too!

I ask this question in EARNEST.....the bolded, is THAT the reason for the survey? It would
be truly outstanding IF someone would answer the question about water issues and COST....
and if I may....THE ISSUE OF A REC CENTER WAS ALREADY VOTED ON....it LOST BY A LANDSLIDE....GO BACK TO THE CITY IF YOU WANT THESE THINGS...THAT IS WHAT THE
PREVIOUS VOTE INDICATED....(we now see the TRUE intent for the survey and we,collectively
are NOT fooled.)JMO

Homeagain, I can't speak for the CAC board, but I can tell you from having sat in on the board meeting in which they were planning for this survey, no, they do not have an agenda on the Rec District in regards to this survey that I saw in any way.

To be blunt and honest, the CAC tends to say things that will shock people in order to get interest and participation - and considering that fewer than 1,000 people of the, what, 20,000 that live here, have filled this out, it's a pretty big sign to the county that we are apathetic about our development and don't care if our voice is heard so they can do whatever they hell they please approving developments for us.

The Rec District is a hot-button issue so they will use it to get people to fill out the survey, plain and simple, no other hidden agenda other than they truly want the community's input, no matter what it is, so we can use that as leverage with the county for things we want and don't want.

If you were a county commissioner and you had a survey that was filled out by 90% of the community would you pay attention to it? How about 5% of the community? Would you then? Things get done, or prevented, because people unite and are loud and strong; 5% is neither.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

HERE'S the problem in a concise and clear statement.....WATER is a finite resource, not only locally, but globally....the "development" they foresee, want or ask input on is predicated on
WATER....the "new" Safeway shopping center brought THAT lesson home and it landed squarely
on the side of "fiasco",failure, fubar, you can put any adjective to it you want..... :smackshead:

Jeffco,KNEW of the on-going lack of water, because long ago,City Market was in
the Aspen Park center and there were many issues with that store and it finally closed it's doors.

Jeffco approved Safeway Center and they will approve ANYTHING ELSE,because "they" see it
as a "feather" in their collective caps and it makes them look good......of course, the ramifications
of their LACK of foresight is another thing.......(how many actually live up here, because I have
not done the research.....living in the city and living up here on the mountain are two different
realities.....). SHAME ON JEFFCO FOR APPROVING THE FUBAR OF THE "NEW" SAFEWAY. :letsfight:
