Thanks Bob. These kinds of photos always remind me of how "bad" life was when I was out to sea; truth is now I look back on those times and laugh and smile because those times were everything but bad (most of the time anyhow)!
I'm not sure the statue of limitations has lapsed yet for some of the alleged events I was involved in during my service in the Navy to post actual photos but I have some very fond memories of various ports of call in the Pacific. Of course nothing nefarious or non-regulation ever took place...
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Welcome. Yea, I am not sure either so I left some thing out even though they did resonate. Excluding some liberty ports my best memories are when we were underway. You cannot find any submarines in port. I HATED quarter deck watches. Didn't mind rover watches but loved sonar watches. Not that we ever found anything. That was the down side of being Pac Fleet. I think my single biggest regret is never having had a med cruise. The Med is like a bathtub for finding subs.

Bob, have you no compassion for your fellow drunken sailors? I recall almost losing a stripe way back when after one of my first liberties in Subic bay... "PERMISSION TO CROSS THE PATIO, DADDY-O..." The Chief of the Boat saved my ass on that one and only because he had a sense of humor and he worked me like a dog on my off duty hours in several ports until I gained a full appreciation of respect for the proper procedure for boarding the Boat! Mopped up a lot of puke and took care of several shipmates in their "hour of need" but not fun times; it's always fun when you act the fool but maybe not so much for the folks around you...
