SEDALIA - Over the weekend, a bear was hit by a car near Sedalia and killed. Adding to the heartbreak were two cubs that refused to leave their mother's side.
A wildlife officer responding to the scene says he found the mother's two cubs asleep on her body. The cubs were taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center in Del Norte.
Wildlife officials are asking people to step up by putting away trash cans and not feeding any bears.
