Message I got from the Parent Company of Channel 9.

In an effort to reach a fair, long-term contract with DISH, we have agreed to an eight-day extension in our ongoing negotiations.

Enjoy your reprieve, hope it becomes permanent. I fear things are coming to a head on this. Every day more and more people give up the Dish and Cable, but the content providers costs keep rising.

Hey, does anyone around here use Amazon Fire TV and/or an HD antenna?

We are currently Luddites; we have an OLD CRT-style TV (with a built-in VCR - works great!) and are currently on DirectTV. It has worked well but for what we watch, local news for the weather, and maybe an hour or so in the evening while we give the cats time to sleep in our laps, it's just not worth the expense.

We're considering cutting the cable.

Well at least I got to see Last Man Standing before they shut it off.

Glad the Bronco game is on CBS

On an added note DISH is giving me free local channels for 5 months even it this is resolved before.

I am not bound by a contract anymore as we have been DISH customers for many years so they also offered up NFL Red Zone free for 3 months.

All I got from 9 news parent company was a canned letter that you could not reply to telling me to switch great just what I want. If I never deal with Direct TV that would be too soon.

When I tried sending them yet another message explaining that I got the same canned letter.

I know there are two sides to every story but in my eyes DISH is much more believable. If you use facebook or twitter please voice your opinion to 9 news or their parent company.

We just tried calling DISH to let them know we weren't happy about this ongoing dispute. They basically said we were SOL. We're in the middle of our contract with them so they aren't compelled to offer anything up for free, if we cancel, we pay fees that aren't worth paying. Ugh.

So did you call them and say you want a partial refund for the local channels since they are not providing all the channels? That is how I started the conversation I did not ask for anything free just want some money back as it was not all the channels.

No, hubby just started by asking about why we didn't have channel 9 and if it was possible for them to substitute NBC from another market. I told him to call back tomorrow - we'll be missing Sunday Night Football otherwise!
