CBS4’s Rick Sallinger talked to a woman who said her daughter is the teacher in the classroom where the shooting apparently happened. Her daughter teaches juniors and seniors.
“I believe the student was targeting her, from what I understand,” said a woman who said she is the mother of Lauren Harper. “She’s with the police right now … she’s a witness.”
SkyRidge Medical Center had two juvenile victims in stable condition. There are also five victims being treated at Littleton Adventist Hospital. Four of those are in serious condition and one is in fair condition. Another victim is located at Children’s Hospital Colorado’s South Campus in Highlands Ranch and was being described as being in good condition.

Student killed in STEM School shooting identified as 18-year-old Kendrick CastilloDENVER – The 18-year-old suspect in Tuesday’s shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch is expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon, and the student killed days before his senior year was set to end was identified by his parents.
Spurlock adjusted what he said Tuesday and said the juvenile suspect in the shooting, whose name and age has not been released, was a female.
Spurlock said that there were “very heroic things that took place” at the school Tuesday and said at least one student encountered the suspects and worked to stop them. He said he had also reviewed video from inside the school showing other heroic acts involving Douglas County deputies and staffers and students at the school.
Sources told Denver7 Tuesday that the motive of the alleged shooters went beyond bullying and involved revenge and anger towards others at the school and that at least one of the suspects was involved in legal and illegal drug use and had been in therapy. But Spurlock said Wednesday the incident was “too new” to establish a motive.
The sheriff's office is asking for anyone with information about the shooting or suspects to call its tip line at 303-660-7579.
HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — The parents of the teen shot and killed at STEM School Highlands Ranch on Tuesday say their son was a hero and they want the public to know what a great kid he was.
John Castillo told ABC News Wednesday that his son, Kendrick Castillo, was the 18-year-old killed in the shooting that left eight others injured. The Douglas County Coroner's office confirmed the teen's identity.
“I want people to know about him,” John Castillo said through tears.
Kendrick Castillo was a senior at STEM School and Friday would have been his last day of school. Photos from social media show the young man participating in competitions with the school’s robotics team and posing with friends before attending his first prom.
The father of a student who was shot at STEM School Highlands Ranch on Tuesday told Denver7 that his son said he was in a classroom when one of the shooters pulled out a gun and started firing.
