Our long-time friend, Michael Leonard, has been in ICU for over a week with complications from COVID 19. His family just posted on Facebook - the details which you can see below. Even if you don't know someone who has had COVID 19, one of your friends may know someone who can save Michael's life.
We have been friends with Meg and Michael for about 25 years. They have devoted their lives to service and making the world a more beautiful place. Matt is Brian's oldest friend. We were at Molly's wedding and know of the love this family has for so many.
Someone knows someone who can help.
Please, please help if you can....at least share the info below. If you can’t donate plasma, prayers and healing thoughts are requested for our friends. This information has been posted with permission from Meg Leonard and the Leonard family. Keep fighting, Michael!!!!
For those of you who don't know, the man next to me in this photo is my amazing Dad. He's the most supportive, amazing father that anyone could ask for and an anesthesiologist who has devoted his life to making healthcare safer for patients.
He needs your help. He's currently fighting for his life, intubated in the ICU in Colorado with COVID 19. He's really sick despite receiving the best health care anyone could ask for. His medical team thinks that he may benefit from convalescent plasma, ie a blood donation with antibodies from someone who has had COVID 19 and recovered. Currently his hospital does not have an established donor program for this, however if we find a suitable donor, they would be able to donate to Dad through the American Red Cross.
If you or anyone you know has tested positive for COVID 19 and been asymptomatic greater than 14 days ago, and would be willing to donate plasma, please let me know. If not, sharing this post far and wide would also be a tremendous help.

Friends, Thank you SO much for reaching out in a time of need for our friends, Michael and Meg Leonard. Molly Elizabeth just posted the following hopeful and informative news:
***UPDATE****: We found a donor and Dad got his convalescent plasma transfusion early this morning! Our family could not be more appreciative of the excellent care that he has been getting from his care team at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus who in coordination with the blood bank at Children’s Hospital Colorado moved as quickly as they could to get him this lifesaving treatment. Our family received thousands of emails offering donations, and we could not be more grateful to each and every one of you.
For people in Colorado, CU and the Children's Hospital of Colorado have set up a phone line and email for potential donors. Here is the information: Children’s Colorado Convalescent Plasma Line (for Interested Donors) 720-777-3557 or This email address is being protected from spambots. For people who are not in Colorado, please consider reaching out to the American Red Cross to donate here: www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/p...vid-19-patients.html

‘Huge’ milestone: Colorado’s first convalescent plasma recipient leaves ICU after 34 days on a ventilatorMichael is discharged from UC Health after 57 days! He survived a near deadly case of Covid19. We are so happy, relieved, thrilled and grateful to have him home. The caregivers at UC Health saved his life! To them goes the most gratitude. And to you friends and family and those we don’t even know whose thoughts, prayers, good wishes, meditations supported our family through this. Thank you. Thank you.
The first COVID-19 patient to receive convalescent plasma in Colorado achieved a “huge” milestone this week, getting off a ventilator after 34 days and standing up on Monday to wave from his hospital window to his wife, son and dog outside.

EVERGREEN, Colo. (CBS4) – An anesthesiologist from Evergreen who spent five weeks on a ventilator fighting COVID-19 is talking about life after the virus nearly killed him. Dr. Michael Leonard was the first coronavirus patient in Colorado to receive convalescent plasma. He credits the caregivers at UCHealth for saving him.
These days, Leonard works hard to get his strength back. He attends a class for COVID-19 survivors, supervised exercise for those who spent weeks in intensive care. Leonard was one of the sickest.
“I came pretty close to dying,” he told Health Specialist Kathy Walsh.
