1620 Plymouth Rock. The voyage hadn't gone right, they had originally wanted to land near the NYC harbor but instead landed near Boston. That first year was tough and over half the colonists died. Most of the people still lived on the ship through the Winter. That would be a tough way to spend a Winter in New England. They did give thanks for those who had survived the next year, starting our current tradition of Thanksgiving. I want to aknowledge those hardy souls who risked their lives for religious freedom, and created one of the traditions of our democracy.
