MORRO BAY, Calif. (AP) — Jack LaLanne, the fitness guru who inspired television viewers to trim down and pump iron for decades before exercise became a national obsession, died Sunday. He was 96.

LaLanne died of respiratory failure due to pneumonia Sunday afternoon at his home in Morro Bay on California's central coast, his longtime agent Rick Hersh said.

Lalanne ate healthy and exercised every day of his life up until the end, Hersh said.

Very sad. Talk about someone who walked the walk. RIP

He was really impressive. My mother used to exercise to his show. And believe me she was not one for formal exercise.

You know how we hear how megavitamins aren't so good for you? Well he took megadoses and made it to 96, staying healthy all the while.

This guy was awsome - I used to watch his show as a kid - he had me doing jumping jacks.

Can't help but think though - if he had excersized more, ate better and taken better care of himself - he may have lived a longer life.

Lived to 96? Maybe there is something to that keeping fit idea.
