CHSAA has said that there will be no H.S. football this fall. the national letter of intent date is mid-December. No schools will see tape of aspiring senior football players in Colorado. Recruiters will not be coming to Colorado this season. Lots of kids will lose out on scholarships.
Polis tried to walk back his ban on playing by stating that CHSAA and he should consider allowing footballto be played this fall. CHSAA said no, we will stick to your schedule.
Even if they decided to play, the quality of play would be subpar, these kids have not practiced at all.
I do feel sorry for high school seniors and even juniors. There is supposed to be Spring football but you have to think colleges will have already decided on players. But please be fair, Polis gave a green light for Fall high school sports, it was CHSAA who decided to stay with their original decision.

Interesting. The title of this topic blames Governor Polis, but it was the CHSAA Board which had voted unanimously to wait until spring (prior to this topic being started).
DENVER — The decision has been made: High school football will not be played in Colorado this fall.
The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) Board of Directors at a meeting Tuesday night unanimously voted to not reconsider any adjustment to the 2020-21 sports calendar.
The announcement comes a day after Gov. Jared Polis had made comments at a news conference saying he would support fall football.
Polis, CHSAA indicate high school football may be played this fall in Colorado CHSAA previously suspended football to spring on Aug. 4 because of COVID-19

Football was on the mind of Colorado Gov. Jared Polis during his press conference Tuesday in Denver.
The Denver Broncos are slated to play the season opener next week on Monday Night Football against the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, college and high school football around the state are on pause because of the COVID-19 pandemic with hopes of playing in the spring.
But, for high school football, teams might return to competition much sooner. Polis said Tuesday he would work with the Colorado High School Activities Association to allow high school football to resume this fall.
“We want to work with (CHSAA),” Polis said. “If their board moves forward and wants to propose a fall season for CHSAA football, we would be thrilled to work with them to make that happen for the districts that are ready to go. I think there’s some opportunity to have a fall season for those who are ready.”

History is always with us. Polis ordered the shut down of the state, everyone followed suit. CHSAA made their recommendations based upon his pronouncements. They subsequently followed suit with the banning of H.S. sports this fall. Now Polis wants to backtrack.
So the CHSAA has no independent thought processes, and simply rubber-stamp what they're told to do? :eyeroll: That's some high-level blame assigning considering the President of the Board said:
"We understand that our school communities would like to return to all levels of normalcy," said Troy Baker, president of CHSAA's Board of Directors and athletic director at Buena Vista High School. "We listened to all parties and the voices of our membership resonated strongly to support the plan as approved in August. The plan aligns with the CHSAA mission. All students have an opportunity to play a season during the 2020-21 school year."

Polis seems to be pushing harder for some fall sports to return. I think he doesn't like the heat from parents and students who do want to play this Autumn. Face it, for some kids, playing sports is why they go to school and keep up their grades. Take that away from them and they might just drop out. Especially if by not playing they are hurting their chances to get a scholarship.
Plus I feel sorry for the students that won't get to play in band, go to homecoming, the socializing of the Friday night football games, especially in small town Colorado.
Hopefully CHSAA lets the schools who want to play, play, let these seniors have as normal of a school year as they can.

The hundreds of potential lawsuits from students losing scholarships is affecting this. College coaches want senior film. A spring season would fall after the recruiting period and signing day.
