The NFL says the Vikings and Giants will play Monday night in Detroit after 17
inches of snow collapsed the inflatable roof of the Metrodome Sunday in Minneapolis.
That would be scary. I was in a walmart when we got that 44" storm and roof was collapsing over us. They asked us to go in line and buy our items before leaving the store. Nice.
I used to work in the IDS building that overlooks the Metrodome and I saw it collapse when I was there in about '81 or '82. They put heaters in the inflatable roof to melt the snow, so it wouldn't accumulate. I guess it was just too much for the heaters to cope with.

I think this is the fourth time it has collapsed since it was built in 1982.
It didn't have anything to do with heaters. They have guys shoveling the snow off during storms to lessen the snow load but this blizzard was so bad they couldn't get up on the roof to shovel.

Stupid Global Warming!!!
Exactly....one of the consequences of global warming is wide swings in weather conditions....but then, this is winter, a gradual warming of a degree isn't going to change that......kinda fun though isn't it to laugh at global warming every time it gets cold or snows?......but to ignore it when the summer is hotter than normal......picking and choosing your data is not terribly scientific.
