Judging by his actions since he retired....i.e. owning an indoor football team....I honestly think he loves football, from any perspective, and this job will give him a chance to be an insider in the league. No, he doesn't need the money, he needs the connection to football. I think he will be good for the organization. (how's that for someone who never really liked the guy, respected his abilities though)
Only time can tell.
He does have $$ problems. losing 2.8 mill isn't a throw away.
And a great QB doesn't make a great coach or management as proven many times over.
His love for the sport may mean something but then again he has nothing going so this may be a way to keep busy without any returns.
He campiegned for George Bush Jr- and not just for his first term, the second! He ran his car dealerships into the ground, got taken by a con man for millions of dollars, and dumped his wife after she caught cancer. And those teeth! C'mon..He's a POS
Sometimes it is the intangibles in an organization that brings the spark back to a team.......if Elway can do anything at all to motivate the players and coaches to win, I'm all for it.

Seems to me he did pretty good job running the indoor football team by assembling talent and winning a championship. It may not be the NFL, but the process is much the same.
vl, if you judge his personality against yours, I can see why you see little in Elway.
We'll get some sense of his influence and impact very soon by the coach they will hire and player evaluation results.
