285Bound Adopting Navycpo's Son's Unit-Donations Requested!

15 Sep 2011 09:17 #1 by MyMountainTown
Greetings Everyone!!

As you all know, navycpo's son's unit is deploying to Afghanistan this week. One of our members came up with an excellent suggestion to adopt the unit ourselves, and we thought that was a great idea!

Becky has generously volunteered to coordinate and collect all of the donations and they'd like to get something sent in time to arrive by Halloween! If you could bring donations to the VFW Breakfast this coming Sunday, or PM Becky or 285Bound to schedule other arrangements. Here is the list of usual items requested, but feel free to throw in some fun stuff too (keeping in mind Halloween is just around the corner, and Thanksgiving not far off)!

*Powdered Drink Products, (NOT needing sugar)
*Chewing Gum
*Breath mints
*Microwave popcorn
*Packaged Snacks (chips/nuts, sunflower seeds, etc.)
*Beef Jerky
*Trail Mix
*Crackers
*Individual dry soup packets
*Pretzels
*M&Ms
*Energy Bars
*Hard Candy
*Dried Fruits (packaged)
*Books, magazines, dvd (both music and movies), playing cards, etc.

Snack sized zip lock baggies (are great for divvying up goodies in larger packaging) or cash to contribute toward the cost of shipping.

We're thrilled to do something to directly support our troops. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us support this endeavor!

With Gratitude,
The Staff at 285Bound

Hey everyone. If you would like to send a support letter to Navycpo7,s son please contact me and I will make they go out in the next shipment.
We will be partnering with the Conifer VFW Ladies Auxillary for future shipments to Navycpo7's son as they have also adopted the same unit.
They are in need of Christmas cards to send to the unit as well as other units so if you have any laying around or want to just pick up a package in the near future....contact me and I will make sure to get them to them.
A special thank you to Towermonkey for your more than generous donation. We will put it to good use.
We are still in need of items to send out so please contact me asap with your donations.

So what happened with this Becky? Did they ever get this shipment? Did they enjoy? And why is this thread under TSAC's forum as this shipment had nothing to do with TSAC?

They did get their shipment. It arrived on the same day as TSAC's from my understanding and I was under the impression that TSAC did hear that they enjoyed it but credit was given to TSAC.
I am just glad they received it and did enjoy it......no matter who took the credit.
