CDOT's slides about the Kings Valley Interchange Project. The yellow star indicates the location of a historic structure which triggered a federal regulation to review how else to engineer the design as to avoid impacting the structure. CDOT is currently conducting that review, and hopes they will be able to complete that, approve a final design, and break ground in the fall of 2023, with construction projected to take through the summer of 2025. Regarding finances, they currently have gathered $6.2M from RPP and FASTER Safety Money and are actively pursuing additional funding opportunities concurrently with conducting the engineering review with the hopes that they can collect all of the necessary funding in the interim and start the project as soon as it's approved.

Background

Conceptual design of the results of the Environmental Assessment's preferred alternative

Kings Valley Project Timelines as of September 15, 2021

Safety improvements to be made in the interim include signage, a speed study to look at reducing the speed limit through that area down to 45mph, and/or rumble strips to warn drivers of their vehicle leaving their lane of traffic.

Additional interim safety improvements include improving the roadway edges.
