Conifer Chamber of Commerce Award Nominations Due!

Just a quick reminder: our second FeBREWary beer tasting event will occur on Thursday, Feb. 21st from 4p - 7p at Los 3 Garcias. Hope you can join me! Call me for $15 presale tickets at 303.838.5711.

And I hope to see you next Friday for our membership meeting at Brooks Place at 7:15a. We'll hear community updates from Commissioner Don Rosier, Elk Creek Fire Chief Bill McLaughlin, Platte Canyon Chamber President Marcel Flukiger, and a Master Plan Update from Heather Gutherless. There will be no attendee introductions this month, so if you need a commercial, please bring a door prize.

Next Friday is also the deadline to submit nominations for our Second Annual Conifer Chamber Awards. If you have a business, a non-profit, and/or an individual in mind that you think has earned one of these awards below, please submit a nomination form for them (yes, you can self-nominate too and neither you nor the organization/person you are nominating has to be a Chamber member) by next Friday February 8th. All of the details are below for qualifications and how they are awarded.

Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce 2013 Awards Categories and Criteria

Category: Business of the Year
Criteria: Must be a Conifer Chamber Member in good standing
Can be either a for-profit or non-profit organization
Will have contributed to the local economy by buying or employing locally
Will have demonstrated good citizenship throughout the community, including active support of charities and businesses, as well as encouraging its employees to do the same
Must have been in business for at least three (3) years
Businesses that have an employee serving on the Conifer Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will not be eligible for consideration

Category: Home-Based Business of the Year
Criteria: Must be a Conifer Chamber Member in good standing
Will have contributed to the local economy by buying or employing locally
Will have demonstrated good citizenship throughout the community, including active support of charities and businesses
Must have been in business for at least one (1) year
Businesses that have an employee serving on the Conifer Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will not be eligible for consideration

Category: Non-Profit of the Year
Criteria: Must be a Conifer Chamber Member in good standing
Will have contributed to the local economy by buying or employing locally
Will have contributed to the local community by offering services
Businesses that have an employee serving on the Conifer Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will not be eligible for consideration

Category: Ambassador of the Year
Criteria: Must be a Conifer Chamber Member in good standing
Must be respected by his or her peers
Must have attended events and meetings
Businesses that have an employee serving on the Conifer Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will not be eligible for consideration
Other publicity to be determined

Category: The Norman F. Meyer Award for outstanding service to our mountain area
Criteria: Must be a Mountain Area Resident
Must be respected by his or her peers
Must have given outstanding service to our mountain area communities
Conifer Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will not be eligible for consideration

Conifer Chamber Awards Nomination Process and Facts
-It is completely free to enter
-Self-nominations are permitted
-Nominations from both Chamber members and non-Chambers are permitted
-Please share information about WHY the company/person should be nominated.
It is recommended that nominations be no more than two pages in length. Additional information that promotes the nominee, however, may be included as support material
-The geographic areas covered are Conifer, Pine, Bailey, Evergreen, and Morrison
-All nominees will be contacted by the Chamber Awards Committee

Friday, February 8, 2013 Nominations Due
Monday, February 11, 2013 Nominees will be notified and a brief interview scheduled and conducted
Tuesday, February 19, 2013 Finalists Announced
Friday, March 8, 2013 Winners Announced at Conifer Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting


-Award recipients will be announced during the Conifer Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on Friday, March 8th. Meeting begins at 7:15a and takes place at Brooks Place Tavern (27175 Main Street, Conifer, CO 80433). The cost is $10 per person, which includes breakfast.
