Clearing up falsehoods and outright lies

The AR in AR-15 doesn't stand for Assault Rifle as many would have some believe. It is taken from the Colt Automatic Rifle designation, or CAR 15. Since there are other manufacturers that aren't Colt, the C was dropped. The automatic portion of the name refers to automatically ejects and then loads the next round with each trigger press. When the stock on a M4 style rifle is collapsed it doesn't become full auto as some in our government would lead people to believe, the technique they are referring to is a bump firing method and largely inaccurate as it normally involves laying the gun on a horizontal forearm and letting the recoil bump the trigger. Unless one has eyes in their elbow region, it is a ridiculous waste of ammunition. Frequently, the anti-gun crowd, likes to say assault weapons only belong on the battlefield. Why then is Homeland Security trying to procure 7,000 such rifles? Will they replace our military? AR's are weapons of mass killing. Why then did the FBI HRT unit use them to free the kidnapped boy in Alabama? Did they believe the North Korean Army lay in wait with the kidnapper in his bunker? Maybe they understood that rifles can be fired more accurately than handguns by the vast majority of persons and having the full capacity magazines gave them a needed edge when entering an unknown situation. Look at photos from the aftermath of the Rodney King beating riots in LA to see how the Korean store owners protected their businesses from looters without even firing a shot due to the sight of these types of guns on the rooftops. This also happened after Katrina in New Orleans. No one can say how many lives were spared by the presence of these guns. The Second Amendment is not about hunting, recreational shooting or collecting. It is very specific as to the American civilians right to self defense, even if that means against its own corrupt and oppressive government.

Interesting. I thought AR meant Armalite Rifle.

The AR-15 was a trademark of Fairchild Corporation of which Armalite was a division. The AR designation stood for Armalite Rifle and was used as the trademark designation for their first design AR-5 which was a .22 rifle developed for the Air Force (the M5 Survival Rifle) The AR-15 was was developed for the military as the M16. Fairchild ran into financial problems and sold the design along with the trademark AR to Colt. It is now a federally registered trademark of Colt, but probably is no longer enforceable.

Over the last couple of months, we have added about 5% of our total gun purchase customers, each person must have a customer number to purchase a firearm. We have been in business for about 30 years. For my concealed carry classes, most people are first time gun buyers.
I'm pleased to see people actually looking up info, instead of taking the media talking points as truth. Yes, Eugene Stoner is most credited with the design of this firearm as mentioned above.
