New Twitter Default Picture

Twitter made an exciting announcement this week about their default profile pictures. For the past seven years, the standard default picture if a user didn't upload their own was the notorious egg.

While the egg was a cute compliment to the bird theme of Twitter, over the years it has become associated with troll accounts that have been harassing users. In hopes to encourage users to upload their own photo - whether it be a personal picture or a brand logo - they have developed a new default photo that most people associate with being a default photo.

While this probably won't deter users that open accounts with the intent to troll and harass other users, it is at least a step in the right direction. Instead of associating the current default with a bird, this will bring users to associate it with a human being, and hopefully encourage more amiable behavior accordingly.
