“A hint of coolness in the air signifies the return to school, a shift toward autumnal activities, and the start of fundraising season. Many of our local nonprofits will host events this month upon which they rely for funding of their programs throughout the year. I encourage you to consider showing your support for the impactful work of these great organizations.”

Check out these upcoming non profit events in the August edition of Community Matters by Cindy Lempke.

“With Halloween approaching, there is an anticipatory note in the air. Children of all ages are preparing for costumed festivities and thinking about plans for the not-too-distant holiday season. There are plenty of opportunities to have fun and participate in some traditional annual events while supporting some great causes.”

Celebrating the holiday season in our mountain towns is all about community. We’re fortunate that so many free, family-oriented and wholesome activities give us the chance to experience the essence of this special time of year, setting aside many of the hollow trappings that come with holiday commercialization. So, bundle up, get the kids ready, and take in the magic of the season.

Rotarians have been busy planning upcoming events to raise money and awareness for outstanding causes and to build goodwill. They invite you to participate and be of service.

Our mountain culture fosters the creativity of local musicians, singers, visual artists and writers. Engendering a love of the arts among our youth is a goal shared by schools, nonprofits and local businesses. With decreased funding for school-based art, music and theater programs, it is especially important to support community-based efforts to cultivate the talents of our young artists. Why not take in a performance or exhibit to show your appreciation for the up-and-coming creatives among us?

“We are indeed fortunate to have so many hardworking nonprofits that address critical needs and preserve the health and well-being of our community. They help sustain our quality of life and are the ‘can do’ aspect of our mountain community personality. They rely on us for volunteers and financial support. Why not consider showing your appreciation by attending one of their upcoming events?”
