Sun May 6

A weak upper trough will move over CO today and Monday and will provide some much needed moisture. Currently looks like showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and presist overnight along the foothills and adjacent Plains as well as in the High Country. Snow level will start around 9000-10,000 ft this afternoon and lower to between 7500-8500 ft tonight. Higher elevations in the foothills could see 1-3 inches of snow by Monday morning, so some roads could be slick, mostly non-asphalt roads. Precip will continue during the day on Monday with showers and thundrstorms into Monday evening. Snow level should remain between 8000-9000 ft during the day on Monday. Total liquid equivalent precip forecatsed to be from 0.50 t0 1.0 inches by models, so definitely some help to lower fire danger, at least for a few days. Total snow accumulation above 8500 ft could be in the 2-5 inch range.

Pattern should return to a more familiar routine by the middle of the coming week with warmer temps and only isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
