When was the last time A COMPETENT INSPECTION CONDUCTED and where can we find the documentation addressing the structural integrity of the dam at the Evergreen Lake......Much erosion at the edges MUST be happening.......Why does the Sheriff not look at this and possibly EVACUATE EVERGREEN DOWNTOWN......SERIOUS BUSINESS !!!

Hwy 74 will be opened to local residents with ID only.

Edit to add: this is to leave the area, not come in. No one is allowed up to Evergreen, it's too dangerous.

Per @jeffcosheriffco 30m

Detour around downtown Evergreen: from the east side of Evergreen take Meadow Drive to Independence Trail to Hwy 73.

Intersection of Hwy 74 & 73 open but 74 is closed into downtown Evergreen to cars but pedestrian traffic allowed. #JeffcoFlood #COFlood

Additional Road Updates
In Evergreen, the intersection of Hwy. 74 and 73 is open. Hwy. 74 into downtown Evergreen is closed to traffic due to debris; however, pedestrians are allowed.

On the east side of downtown Evergreen, a detour has been established:

For Hwy. 74 take Meadow Drive
For Hwy. 73 take Independence Trail

Here is the latest information on roads in Jefferson County:

Hwy. 74 in downtown Evergreen is closed due to debris. Upper Bear Creek Road from Hwy 74 to the Clear Creek County line is also closed due to being under water and unknown damage.
Hwy. 72 west to Blue Mountain Estates is now open.
Hwy. 93 is fully open.

Stay safe, stay away!

You can start here: http://www.evergreenmetrodistrict.com/

If they don't answer your questions, the State of Colorado Office of Dam Safety would be the next step: http://water.state.co.us/damsafety/dams.asp

FYI: Dams, such as Evergreen Dam, that pose a risk to populations living and/or working downstream undergo some pretty rigorous inspections and maintenance.

Per Jeffco Sheriff 38min ago:
Evergreen traffic correction: On the east side of downtown Evergreen, a detour has been established for the closed portion of Highway 74 (on google maps- Bear Creek Rd) by taking Meadow Drive.

Independence Trail is NOT accessible from Bear Creek Rd.

To get to the east side of downtown Evergreen, use the detour on Meadow Dr to get to Highway 74 . Highway 74 north is open or you can go south to Highway 73.

Of course you will need to check in the morning but I heard that you might be able to get through 73/74 in the morning. Sounds like Downtown Evergreen might still remain closed unless you are on foot.

Hope that there is not much rain tomorrow and Sunday.

I live up Meadow Brook Ln between Witter Gulch and the Lake. As of yesterday we could not get out and re-enter our neighborhood. Do you know if this stretch of Upper Bear Creek is open. Just trying to get to Safeway store and home at this point. thx

Good morning Gardenbuggzz (cool nic, btw!)!

According to the Jeffco Sheriff Google map, Upper Bear Creek is still closed from Evergreen all the way up to the county line. I don't know if the bridge that washed out is above or below you, but hopefully they get that opened back up soon.

Sorry to not have better news for you.

Thx Science Chic for the reply! We're heading down to look at our bridge now but as of yesterday the water was rushing over the entire lower portion of MeadowBrook. We are hoping it's passable today, but it sounds like even if we can get to UBC there's no place to go. So, we will hunker down and be grateful that's our only problem - lucky to live up high - can't believe the videos posted showing the houses down there... just awful. Thx again!
