Passenger vehicle traction law lifted
I-70 in both directions between MM 241 (Idaho Springs) and MM 259 (Mount Vernon Canyon).
What is currently in effect:
Passenger Vehicle Traction Law
- I-70 Westbound / Eastbound between Silverthorne and Georgetown (Milemarker 205-228)
- US 6 Westbound / Eastbound Loveland Pass (Milemarker 220-229)
- US 285 Southbound / Northbound Kenosha Pass (Milemarker 208-183)
- US 285 Southbound / Northbound between Pine Jct. and Morrison (Milemarker 229-250)
- CO 9 Southbound / Northbound Hoosier Pass (Milemarker 73-86)
All vehicles must use chains or alternate traction devices.
Commercial Vehicle Chain Law
- I-70 Eastbound Silverthorne to Eisenhower Tunnel (Milemarker 205-213)
- I-70 Westbound Bakerville to Eisnhower Tunnel (Milemarker 221-215)
- US 6 Westbound / Eastbound Loveland Pass (Milemarker 220-229)
- US 285 Southbound / Northbound Kenosha Pass (Milemarker 208-183)
Chains or alternative traction devices (ATDs) required for all CMV, including buses and vans of 16+ capacity.
