We’re at Mt Falcon Park, command post for a small fire on the mountain. Fire is less than 1/2 acre in size. Cause is lightning strike. @IndianHillsFire and @FoothillsFire are on scene. Park is currently closed.

Update: helicopter drops have saturated the 1 acre fire. Fire crews and @JeffcoOpenSpace rangers will continue to monitor, and smoke will likely still be seen tomorrow. This will be the final update unless there’s a change.

Yesterday’s fire at Mt Falcon has flared up. Helicopter will be doing water dumps again this afternoon. At this time the park is still open to the public.

Update to Mt. Falcon flare-up: Fire has grown 1/4 acre since yesterday. Active flames right now. West Mt Falcon Park is closed to the public.
Update on the Mt Falcon fire. The fire is in a remote part of the park with difficult foot access. A crew from IHFR and Jeffco Open Space, CO Park Rangers hiked to the fire today, completed the control line, and mopped up remaining hot spots. IHFR personnel will be hiking back to the fire tomorrow to verify that it's out. Mt Falcon Park remains closed. Please check the Jeffco Open Space, CO page for updates on reopening.
